Great emulator, great job! I have so much fun with my GBA now thanks to you! Keep up the good work!
First of all, thanks for still working on Goomba.
Now, I haven't updated since Alpha 6, but I can't seem to make your latest version work with Pogoshell (as a plugin). Is it because it's not running on multiboot anymore?
Thanks again!
Pogoshell support looks somewhat broken right now:
Black screen after starting a game (goes away after you press L+R)
Exit is broken
I'll try to fix those issues.
Don't try to run goomba color as a multiboot plugin, because it's not multiboot anymore. Make sure you set the pogo.cfg options correctly.
I'll assume you have a Flash2Advance, Visoly, XG1, or XROM cartridge, other cartridges are just not designed for pogoshell.
Edit: Figured out why Exit command failed... Never try to run rom-switching code from rom :)

Yeah, I tried using all three files (goomba.gba, goomba_mb.gba, and goomba_save32.gba) as a plugin (i.e., rename to goomba.mb, edit pogo.cfg). It does black-screen on emulators, but it just freezes on that black screen on actual hardware, and does the GB classic chime (??).
Oh, and I'm running it on an XROM, if that helps. :)
You can't rename to goomba.mb, you must keep it a .GBA file. It is not a multiboot program. Then you must edit pogo.cfg, and associate .gb and .gbc files with goomba.gba.

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. I can get past the black screen now.
Thanks a lot!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is a fantastic emulator and makes my wife very happy. Pogoshell now runs all of her favorite classics in one cart. :-D
Any chance of a new GBAMP version? using the AWESOME Pocketnes update from a few weeks back and wishing i had the latest goomba too!!!!
The big hurdle for a new GBAMP version is that I reorganized the memory layout after adding SGB support. I'd need to re-do a bit of stuff to get it to work on a GBAMP.

Hey Dwedit, thanks again for all your dedication in such a great project like Goomba Color! Is there any chance to introduce speed hacks in the next versions for GBA or we´ll have to wait for NDS version to get full speed in all games? Cheers!
The biggest speed hack that's already in there is the "Timers" double speed mode. It's a huge speedhack already, which forces games to run in single speed mode.
I have also added PocketNES style speedhacks to development versions, but they have not helped at all, so I probably won't include them.

Thanks a lot for Goombacolor!!! Now I can play the phantastic GBC Moon patrol port even on my Gameboy Micro!
It´s a pitty "Alone in the Dark" does not work, but I guess this game pushed even the original GBC to its limits...

Hi, firstly thanks Dwedit for keeping on improving this emulator so much. Out of curiosity I just had a peek at the source and I see that you're using gba_nds_fat.c in there, I presume for reading GBAMP cards or something. Is it much work to swap this for DLDI to allow browsing of filesystems on carts to save from having to compile up a ROM each time there's an update or you want to add another game? It would make it quite a lot easier to use on EZ-Flash cards on the GBA, and DS Slot one cards too. Do you have a DS version planned still? I seem to remember you had written that the first hurdle was to move the source over to GCC.

I haven't built a GBAMP version of Goomba Color in a while.
Yes, there is a DS version in the works. Yes, you can download it somewhere. No, you wouldn't want to because it is in the extremely early stages.
